- Isoliquiritigenin is a licorice chalconoid, a type of natural phenol. It activated soluble guanylate cyclase, increased cyclic GMP, and exerted a vasorelaxant effect in the phenylephrine-precontracted rat aorta. Yu S.M. and Kuo S.C. - Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) play an important role in regulating development and homeostasis. Isoliquiritigenin was shown to be an activator of BMP signaling. Vrijens K., et al. "Identification of small molecule activators of BMP signaling." PLoS One 8: e59045 (2013).
- Isoliquiritigenin inhibited the growth of colon carcinoma in vitro and in vivo.
